The Challenge

Impact noise generated on the floor above — footfall, furniture movement, dropped objects — travels through the structural slab and radiates downward into occupied spaces. A rigidly fixed ceiling offers little attenuation; the slab simply drives the ceiling surface directly.

This is a particular challenge in hotels, residential apartments, offices above mechanical plant rooms, and any multi-storey building where floor-to-floor acoustic separation is critical.

Solution

AMC Akustik + Sylomer® ceiling hangers suspend the ceiling on calibrated elastic mounts, decoupling it from the structural slab above. Impact and airborne noise is attenuated before it reaches the ceiling surface, dramatically reducing the noise level in the room below.

Hangers are specified based on the suspended ceiling load and the target acoustic performance. The system is compatible with standard suspended ceiling grid systems and can be incorporated at the design stage or retrofitted to existing structures.
