Universal Studios

Mwendo supplied floating floor systems and equipment isolation for Universal Studios, delivering the acoustic isolation levels required for professional music production and post-production in a demanding urban environment.

Challenge

Professional recording and production facilities within an active building complex are subject to vibration from multiple sources — HVAC systems, traffic, and activity in adjacent areas. These vibration paths must all be broken simultaneously to achieve the background noise levels required for studio recording.

Solution

A combination of AFB point-bearing floating floors and Sylomer® equipment mounts was specified for the studio complex. The approach isolated each studio volume from the structure and isolated the mechanical plant from the building simultaneously — addressing all transmission paths in a single coordinated design.

Outcome

• All studios achieving target noise criteria for professional music production
