A corporate fitness facility required effective impact noise isolation to prevent disturbance to the office floors below. Mwendo specified and supplied Getzner's Acoustic Floor Mat (AFM-33) tailored to the load profile and acoustic targets of the project.

Challenge

High-impact activities — free weights, cardio machines, and group exercise classes — generate significant structure-borne noise. The gym was positioned directly above occupied office space, demanding a solution that would meet strict acoustic criteria without compromising floor height or construction programme.

Solution

A full-surface floating floor using 1,800sqm of Acoustic Floor Mat (AFM-33) was installed across the entire gym area. The system was selected to match the specific load distribution and achieve the required impact sound improvement, as well as for ease of installation.

Outcome

• Impact noise levels in the offices below reduced to within specification
• Minimal installation height — no structural alterations required
